Product Description
Cetrorelix Acetate
Cetrorelix or Cetrorelix acetate is an injectable gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist that assists with in vitro fertilization. This medication suppresses premature LH secretion and rapidly inhibits the production and action of LH and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) by blocking the action of GnRH in the pituitary gland. Cetrorelix can also be used to treat prostate cancer, breast cancer, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and endometrial thinning.
Cetrorelix is available for use in assisted reproduction in all countries except Japan. Cetrorelix is prescribed for daily injections during the in vitro fertilization process in cases of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), followed by possible administration of Human Chorionic G by the attending physician to assist with early pregnancy growth. Cetrorelix can be safely mixed with follitropin alpha without affecting safety and therapeutic effects.
Cetrorelix is a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist, which is used to regulate the production of gonadotropins derived from the pituitary gland in various situations. The main therapeutic effects are as follows:
Inhibition of premature LH secretion to assist with in vitro fertilization (IVF): Cetrorelix blocks the action of GnRH in the pituitary gland, rapidly inhibiting the production and action of LH and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). This allows for appropriate development of a woman's oocytes and increased responsiveness to administered FSH. This function enhances the success rate for oocyte retrieval and in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures.
Prevention of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS): Cetrorelix is used during IVF processes to help prevent OHSS. This condition occurs due to administration of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), in which the ovaries respond excessively, causing them to enlarge or leading to damage to the ovaries.
Treatment of other hormone-related conditions: Cetrorelix is used to treat various hormone-related conditions such as prostate cancer, breast cancer, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and endometrial atrophy. These conditions arise from hormonal imbalances, and Cetrorelix helps restore balance.
The efficacy of Cetrorelix is primarily based on regulated hormone levels and promoting appropriate development of oocytes through proper reproductive hormonal regulation. The medication has been recognized as a treatment for various reproductive-related issues and helps reduce several side effects associated with in vitro fertilization.
