Main Uses:

Triethylsilane appears colorless or light brown oily liquid; Soluble in most polar organic solvents, often used in CH2Cl2; Density 0.728 g/mL(25°C).

Under the action of alkaline water, the Si-H bond within the molecule breaks, releasing to form triethylsilanol. Reacting with alkyl lithium, the hydrogen atoms in the Si-H bond are replaced by alkyl. It reacts with alkoxy lithium to form triethylalkoxy silane. In the presence of aluminum trichloride, it reacts with hydrogen chloride to form triethylchlorosilane. Under the action of platinum catalyst, addition reaction with alkenes can occur. It can be prepared from triethylchlorosilane by reducing lithium aluminum tetrahydride. Used to synthesize organosilicon compounds.

Properties:
-triethylsilane is a colorless liquid with a slight odor of alkane.
- It is insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents such as benzene, ethanol, etc.
- In air, triethylsilane is stable and less volatile at room temperature.
Uses:
- As a derivative of silicone, triethylsilane is widely used in many applications, such as as a surface treatment agent, lubricant and anti-stick agent.
- It can also be used to synthesize materials such as silyl polymers, silyl adhesives and silyl coatings, which has the effect of improving product performance. Triethylsilane can also be used as a lubricant for metal surfaces, providing a lower coefficient of friction and better wear resistance.
